The Hub Cafe sits tucked beside the historic Moira Furnace, making it a convenient stop for walkers and locals looking for a simple, hearty bite or a decent coffee break. The cafe itself is modest in size, with limited indoor seating, complemented by a handful of tables outside—some in a small courtyard and others under a covered area. This setup offers a quiet spot to rest either before or after exploring the nearby walking paths that trace the old industrial site.

The menu is concise, focusing on familiar comfort foods like jacket potatoes topped with mature cheddar, tuna mayo, or veggie chilli, alongside a daily soup and straightforward sandwich options. This simplicity suits the cafe’s laid-back vibe, where the emphasis seems to be on delivering reliably tasty meals without fuss. Portions are generous enough to satisfy a morning or midday appetite, particularly for those keen on a practical and filling breakfast or lunch.

Coffee holds its own here, with locals appreciating a well-prepared cappuccino that pairs well with the unpretentious food and the relaxed, casual surroundings. The customer service tends to be friendly, often by a small team who handle everything from orders to drinks, which can occasionally slow things down during busy times like local events taking place at the Moira Furnace site. Still, most find the atmosphere welcoming and the staff approachable.

This cafe feels most at home during daytime hours, especially mornings when walkers arrive hungry or on quieter weekdays when locals pop in for quick coffee or lunch. It’s not a spot for rushing or elaborate dining but rather for those who enjoy a straightforward meal served with a view of local heritage. The surrounding area’s blend of green paths and industrial history gives the cafe a somewhat unique local character, making it easy to imagine regular visitors who appreciate both good coffee and a calm place to pause amid their day.

I'm local and popped in for lunch, the menu is short but has all the essentials for breakfast or lunch, the coffee was lovely, the food really tasty.. I'll be back for sure.

Popped in yesterday, very busy with an event on at the furnace. Served promptly and efficiently by two very pleasant young staff. Food and drinks were great, hot, tasty, good portions and a reasonable cost. Can highly recommend and will visit again soon. Well done all on a busy Sunday..

A very nice location for a cafe with a lovely view of what was once a massive furnace. The cafe itself is quite small and doesn’t seat that many. There are 3 or 4 tables outside on a small courtyard/walkway and 4 or 5 tables on a covered area adjacent to the cafe. The staff were friendly and talkative and the coffee was what you would expect for a cappuccino. The prices are comparable to that of a coffee chain (costa etc) so not cheap. There is visitor parking but there’s also parking for tenants. These parking bays are covered by CCTV so be mindful if you’re hoping to park close to the cafe. The parking and access to the cafe are also wheelchair friendly.

Walking from the Moira Furnace is good, nice paths, lots to see and the knowledge that a great breakfast waits at the end of the walk. This is a very small cafe with some indoor and a few outdoor tables. The best thing about it is that once you have placed your order, its just like your Gran has gone off to cook you breakfast. We tend to take the smaller breakfast here, which is more than enough and this week we also were treated to a ton of toast. Really very good for the money. Excellent.

The café needs more staff, especially when there is an event on at Moira. The young lady serving was having to take orders as well as work the till and make hot drinks. The service is slow at times because of this. If someone is waiting to just buy a drink out of the fridge or an item out of the freezer, then it's wrong to have them wait for someone's coffees to be made. The staff were working incredibly hard and seemed to be snowed under. It's a shame because this could put people off. The food was nice, I recommend the bacon sandwich. There is also seating outside, but it does get busy, so you have to time it right to get a table.
